More Mobile Game Developers Being Sued By Lodsys

The company Lodsys has launched a new batch of lawsuits against several large mobile game developers.

In 2011, a development company called Lodsys sued several small mobile game developers claiming that they had infringed on patents they owned. Lodsys asserted that the in-app purchasing systems they had created were being used by several small companies. Lodsys went on to send threatening letters to larger mobile game development companies like Atari, Rovio, and Take-Two Interactive. The lawsuits were stalled when an Apple official intervened on behalf of the companies. Apple stated that all developers who were licensed to release apps from the App Store were protected from patent infringement. Recently, Lodsys has taken up their case again by going after several media giants including Gameloft and Disney.
